OnePlus is integrating OxygenOS with Oppo’s ColorOS


OnePlus was integrating with Oppo, effectively is a sub-brand of the phone manufacturer. The company declared on Friday that it is integrating OxygenOS with Oppo’s ColorOS operating system. Both companies’ software will remain different and proceed to serve their region but share a common codebase. OnePlus standardize its software experience and streamline the development process for the OxygenOS updates. The change will allow the company to ensure better Android support going forward to improve in the last few years.

OnePlus, Oppo, and the wider BBK Electronics umbrella, integrating the companies’ software on the backend seems like a net positive for OnePlus users. OnePlus is “integrated” as unclear as to when it was independent, owned by BBK. It shares some parts with Oppo, but as long as phones are supported, it will not matter
